  • Our Mission
To create awareness of the displacement crisis
and cater to the basic needs of forcibly
    displaced persons in Nigeria.

Why Refuge Foundation

Refuge Foundation was borne out of a desire to be of assistance to victims of war/conflict and other persons who have been compelled to leave their homes behind in search of safety. There are different reasons why persons are forced to flee their homes – persecution, conflict, human rights violations, adverse effect of climate change, natural disasters and development projects - but the over-riding cause of displacement globally is conflict.

Africa is worse hit by displacement. More tragic is that while the displacement crisis grows in Africa, the general populace is largely unaware; and our governments do not have the capacity to tackle this ‘avoidable’ challenge we have brought upon ourselves.

Our Objectives

To actively collaborate with relevant stakeholders in the assessment and mitigation of the root causes of displacement in Nigeria.

To support government efforts towards the rehabilitation and re-integration of displaced persons in the country.

To ameliorate the unfavourable conditions faced by displaced persons in Nigeria.

To advocate, educate and enlighten the general public and relevant authorities on displacement issues; and its challenges and effects on the Nigerian economy and society.
